Choose something different - choose the majestic Fritillaria

Fritillaria are an uncommon bulb and possibly won't be your first choice, but the spring flowering Fritillaria is still an impressive bulb with majestic flowers that make it well worth considering. The majestic Fritillaria has prominent yellow/orange flowers with a crown of green leaves that give a surprising twist to your garden with the structure offered by their wonderful leaves.

The Fritillaria - an easy bulb that you can leave to grow wild

Plant Fritillaria's in the full sun in well drained soil for the best growth result. You can leave Fritillaria's to run wild as they require little care and, due to the shape of the bulb, it is best to plant Fritillaria's on their side to prevent water from collecting and rotting in the bulb. After flowering, cut the stems as soon as they have dried. Try to combine Fritillaria's with evergreens or other flower bulbs such as lilies and narcissus.
