Jasmine Mix - Tuscan Jasmine & Japanese JasmineA beautiful mix of three Jasmine varieties: Tuscan Jasmine, Tuscan Jasmine 'Star of Tuscany,' and Japanese Star Jasmine 'Pink Showers,'. These stunning, evergreen climbers are perfect for a fragrant and colourful garden.
The Jasmine Mix consists of the following three plants:
- Tuscan Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) is known for its white, star-shaped flowers and can be used as both a climber or ground cover.
- Tuscan Jasmine 'Star of Tuscany' resembles the standard Tuscan Jasmine but has creamy yellow flowers, adding variety.
- Japanese Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum asiaticum) 'Pink Showers' brings soft pink tones to your garden and flowers for months. In autumn, its leaves turn a warm orange-red.
These varieties go well together, growing along pergolas or fences, but they also thrive in pots in a sunny spot or can be planted as ground cover! This way, you can enjoy a vibrant garden year-round.
Care:
- Plant them in a sunny, sheltered spot. They love warmth and grow better with plenty of sunlight.
- Use well-draining, airy soil. Avoid wet, soggy soil to prevent root rot.
- Water regularly, especially in summer. Keep the soil moist but not too wet.
- In the ground, these jasmines are fairly frost-hardy. Young plants or those in pots may need extra protection during harsh frosts. Cover them with fleece or bring the pot indoors.
- Fertilize the plants in spring and summer with organic fertilizer or a specific fertilizer for flowering plants.
Pruning:
- Jasmine doesn’t necessarily need to be pruned. If the plant grows too large, prune it back hard after flowering (late spring/summer). It will regrow quickly. Pruning after flowering also helps to maintain shape and keeps the plant young.
- Remove dead or damaged branches in early spring.
- For potted jasmine, pruning is more important to keep the plant compact and prevent it from taking up too much space.
