Hygrometers for sale online

Hygrometers for sale online to maintain healthy plants in your home and garden. It goes without saying that all plants need water. With a hygrometer or moisture meter, you can measure whether your soil has sufficient moisture to hydrate your plants. Having a moisture meter at hand means you can quickly and easily read whether your soil is too wet or too dry. Using the meter could not be simpler; insert the meter's pin into the ground, and the humidity of the soil is instantly measured. The display then indicates whether the plant needs water or not. Some meters can measure more than just the humidity of the soil though, including whether fertilisation is required, pH levels, EC, light intensity (Lux) and soil temperature. Buy a hygrometer for your plants today in our webshop.

Calibrating hygrometers

Calibrating hygrometers and determining the accuracy of your meter can be done in a couple of different ways. By wrapping the meter in a damp, wrung out cloth, you can easily check the instrument to determine whether there is an obvious deviation. If the meter is accurate, it will measure about 96 to 98% humidity after approximately half an hour. If it does not, it probably needs re-calibrating. Another method is known as the 'salt method'. Place a dish with moistened kitchen salt in an air-tight container. Put the moisture meter in the container and close it. After about 8 hours the humidity percentage in the container should measure around 75%. If the Hygrometer indicates a higher or lower percentage than this, then it is probably inaccurate, and re-calibration is required.
