Basil has been a popular herb for centuries
Basil has been a very popular herb for centuries and is one of the most used herbs in the world. Basil prefers full sun and if space is at a premium you can sow basil between your plants. Basil originates from India and has a long history where it is linked to many mythologies and superstitions, often relating to love, in Greece, Italy and Mexico.
Garden tip! Grow a Pizza garden, with e.g. Tomatoes and Basil
Nothing tastes better than an appetiser made from home-grown tomatoes with basil, mozzarella and olive oil. Or use basil in a delicious home-made pesto or home-made tomato sauce. Tip: grow a pizza garden. Sow tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, garlic, basil, parsley and thyme and you have everything at hand to make delicious pizzas. You don't need a lot of space, a square metre is sufficient. You can also use our willow plant baskets to grow your pizza garden.
