Sowing and planting larkspur

The best time for sowing and planting larkspur is the months of March and April. Preferably position it in a sunny spot sheltered from the wind. Additionally, it is essential that this robust bloomer be regularly maintained to obtain the most from its colourful flowers. Fertilise your plants during flowering and reshape it every two years. For it to thrive and reach its full potential, this plant will need to draw a lot of nutrients from the soil. Tip: Snails are very fond of this plant, so place a copper ring around your Delphinium as this will help prevent them being eaten. Larkspur also makes an excellent cut flower, so why not pick a bunch and create a beautiful display in a vase.

Pruning larkspur

Pruning larkspur is not necessary at all. Just remember to remove your faded flower stems, and you will stimulate a second round of flowering. After a subsequent series of blooms, it is advisable to remove your faded stems once again.
