      Molinia arundinacea (purple moor grass)

Molinia arundinacea (purple moor grass) is a subspecies. Purple moor grass can be divided into two different groups: caerulea species and arundinacea species. The ornamental grasses that belong to the arundinacea species are the tallest. They are coarser and provide a much-needed architecture in the border. This ornamental grass is not only beautiful, but it is also versatile, needs little maintenance and grows on almost all grounds and in any type of garden. They provide colour too, with beautiful red, white, brown, copper or yellowish plumes. Tip: Don’t prune the grass until spring. The grass looks stunning during winter, covered in snow.

      How to prune Molinia

Molinia pruning is easy. Simply cut the grass back to the ground in the spring. Preferably before new growth appears. This ornamental grass will grow back very quickly.
